It has been so long since I have actually had the opportunity to blog! I get excited over many things but one of my loves is hair and makeup . I get asked often where did I learn formal styles or makeup application. I will fill everyone in on that here :) Hair and makeup goes back to being a little girl actually. I was the friend who would change my other friends hair , At age 12 I cut all of my sisters hair off in a pixie cut ! I always loved cosmetics as well . At age 20 I went to work for Lancome cosmetics where I guess you can say I was "formally" trained.  But as goes for photography , I am a visual person . I learn by seeing and doing. I let my "eye" guide me in both areas.

I've always behind the scenes done formal hair and makeup , but decided when starting the photography business , to offer that as well. It is a huge hit with Seniors. :)  More popular now , is the highschool pageant circuit hair and makeup. Where Ive been pretty proud that every girl that I have made over has won or placed.

On to this years Silver Bluff Girls! Even though I did makeover last years Miss South Aiken, with Silver Bluff being my Alma Mater I am going to showcase this years girls in my blog! :)

First off is Celine . Celine won Miss Freshman this year :) Here is what I did !
Celine has flawless , porcelain skin. So with that in mind I decided on Maybelline FIT me foundation in the color 110. We concealed with NYX HD concealer in light. Highlighted cheeks with Lancome Eclat Miracle Serum of Light Complexion Illuminator . On Celine's eyes I used the Urban Decay Oz Pallette in Glinda. I first applied Nyx pencil in milk to make the eyeshadow pop . Next I patted the color Auro ( pearly white )  all over the lid , then added South (Brownish)  into the crease , buffing away any extra until blended. With a pencil brush I took the color Tornado( deep purple)  in the outer V of the eye and blended it in with Magic which is a pink shadow. After bending it all I then finished by patting on the silver OZ to the center of the lid. I used NYX liquid liner in black , and Carbon Pencil by MAC on the waterline , then using a pencil brush swept the color Tornado halfway under her eye . About to the pupil :) Using a brown shadow and dark brown pencil, I shaped her brows . Then she applied Maybelline's Rocket mascara in black. For Cheeks I used a baby pink blush by Elf called Pink Passion. On the lips we used a Clinique Chubby Stick in the color Watermelon. We finished off the face with a Mac Mineralized skin finish(  Light Diffusing powder )  in the Color Light Plus :)

Celine went with big lose curls as she has GORGEOUS hair , we wanted that to show for sure :) Her Dress was a baby pink ball gown with sparkle and she looked amazing :)

Next is Stephanie . Stephanie was opposite Celine in hair and eye color so we went with a different look . On the face we concealed with the same concealer as above. Also using the same highlighter we highlighted under the eyes . For foundation we used Makeup Forever HD foundation in the color 20 . For eyes we wanted to accentuate her baby blues so I went with the Naked 2 Pallet by Urban Decay . We primed the eye with the same NYX pencil as above in Milk. Swept the color Bootycall ( yes I know hahaha) all over the lid . Its a pearly shade. then all over the bottem lid I patted on Chopper. Its a simply beautiful  shimmery copper color . I filled the crease and outer V in with the color Snakebit (a golden brown shimmer) We lined her top lid in the same black NYX liquid liner pen, then swept the Snakebite under the eye using a pencil brush. We then applied Ardel false lashes (Demi Luvi) which we had to trim . The length was very long. Rocket Mascara in Black and Bh cosmetics Blush in bright pink. Finishing the look off with Mac Mineralized skin finish .
We went with a half up do with side swept  bangs and VERY full top . We added extensions to the back of the hair for fullness and curled in big natural curls .

Stephanie wore a royal Blue Mermaid dress and placed as Miss Freshman Runner up . She looked stunning !

Miss Shelby:) Shelby had a gorgeous white ball gown and fun casual wear so I kept her eye simple . I followed the same eye using all of the same product  as Celine but blended it out more . Her foundation was Mac Studio Sculpt in NW25 with the same Concealers and Highlight as above. I used a cream NYX bronzer and the same Elf blush as above. Finishing her look off with the same Mac mineralized skin finish :)
Shelby wanted a formal up do with fun side bun :) So we set her hair with hot rollers for volume. Teased , sprayed, teased :) then finished the side with a sock bun.
Shelby was confident and her look suited her so well ! She did awesome and looked beautiful!!

My daughter Logan waited patiently and of course it was getting close to pageant time so I did not get photos . I knew I could recreate her look . So I will do that and add it :)  Hope many found this helpful!

"The Rachel "

Yes I have lovingly named an updo ...
Well , lets start from the beginning. I was contacted by Rachel to photograph engagement , bridals and her wedding day. She also requested that I do her hair and makeup which is a service that I also provide.
We started with engagement where she wore her grandmothers dress from the 1940's and we shot near the track where she was married incoorporating the horses that her and now husband work with and love. To play off the vintage dress we used a GHD straightner to obtain curls that stay. Then losely pinned over one side using an antique broach to adorn the hair. Cosmetics for that shoot :

Clinique Even Better Foundation in 05 Neutral
laura Mercier Transluscent finishing powder
 Urban Decay eye Primer Potion
NYX jumbo eye pencil in Milk
Two Faced eyeshadows in Leading Lady &Erotica
NYX shadow From no 10 Pallette Runway Collection
NYX liner pen in black
NYX Bronzer in Bronzy Lambada
MAC Melba Blush
Rimmel lipstick in dreamy with MAC Lipglass in Viva la Glam

On the road for bridals
After much discussion and viewing photos of Rachel's gown , we decided on the side pinned curls for bridals , we felt it complimented her face as well as the simplicity of her gown. We used a feather hairpiece for the shoot . Took the show on the road to Beaufort county and captured Rachel in all of her beauty as a group of spectators formed and snapped their own photographs as a souvenier from their stop at the historic location.
Cosmetics for bridals: Bliss Face lotion
Lancome Eclat Miracle Illuminating primer
Makeup forever Mat Velvet foundation in #20
Laura Mercier Candlelight Illuminating powder
Urban Decay Eye Primer potion
NYX jumbo eye pencil in milk
Urban decay Naked pallette eyeshadows in Virgin, Halfbaked and Hustle
Mac eye khol in Smolder
Mac Blush in Melba
Estee Lauder Pure Color lipstick in 341 Tiramisu

The BIG DAY!

Much of the cosmetics were the same as was the hair for wedding day...

With the exception of the feather hairpiece was replaced with live Hydrangas in Rachels hair ..which turned out to be incredibly beautiful.

People think I am somewhat insane for taking on hair and make-up and shooting a wedding. I have found that while YES it is a task , it also helps in achieving the photos that I do , because, I have time to get to know the bride, her likes and dislikes and "bond' if you will :) They are much more relaxed for photos which in return gives them something that they and myself are happy with. So all in all .. I love it and I have that personally to offer my clients as I am having fun and making friends and have happy clients

What's in that fee?

I am asked many times what is included in JDP's fee..
I will explain my charges in comparison to other  photographers.

First , I work from my home. Therefore excluding overhead studio fees. I travel to locations of your choice within the CSRA . Outside of the CSRA , a travel charge will be added.

I do not charge a "sitting fee" . A sitting fee is a charge that compensates the photographer for the time spent taking your photographs. Normally , the images will be watermarked as the photographer is later compensated for his work through the photographs that you purchase.

Jennifer Druelle  Photographics has a one time fee of $185 that includes:
-A preshoot consultation, to ensure you get the look that you desire , and advice on clothing , props and location.
- Photographers travel to the location
- up to 2 hour photo session ( lesser charges for mini sessions)
-upload and edit time. This needs to be considered when considering fee charges .Editing a batch of photographs from one session can take up to 4-6 hours. As I go through each image one by one to ensure it comes to you with the best quality and finish.
- Custom label and CD.
I feel at this point in my business that I want my clients to have their photos and for my work to get out there. I do not (at this time) watermark my photos. You get the rights to upload online or print as you wish. I do however send off to professional labs and offer that service to my clients.
A custom photo label is made for your CD and mailed to you .
All of this included in an all inclusive fee. The amount of photos will vary from 35-60. I try to offer up to 60 solid , quality photos with variation instead of 400 not so good repeats.

Weddings:
Weddings packages include
-Engagement session
-Bridal session
-wedding and reception coverage with 2 photographers
-16x20 bridal portrait
- all sessions on CD
Wedding charges vary upon venue, and needs of the client. Some clients only need wedding and reception, others the whole package. Contact me for more specific rate quotes

Hair & Makeup
JDP also offers hair and makeup services for your shoot if desired for an additional fee of $40

I hope this answers many of your questions and I look forward to working with many new clients as well as previous clients!

Senior Sessions with JDP, high prices having you running???

I love Senior sessions..

I remember my high school session , it was very fast, very generic and very expensive. It wasn't about me at all, just another student in and out. Nothing that I look back on fondly!

I especially love the enthusiasm from the seniors as they are excited about this time in their life as they transcend into adulthood. In senior sessions, I work before hand with the client to get an idea of their likes , personality and general overview of how they want their portraits to look.

.

 What is the sitting fee?

I DO NOT have sitting fees. A sitting fee is generally a low price given to sit at a studio or location by a photographer, Who then later makes his/her profit from photo sales.

At this point in my business that is not how I choose to make my profit.
With that being said, I do offer full professional development and affordable prices.

I don't limit the client with packages, but allow the client to chose the photos they want in sizes they will use and be happy with.
A session fee of $150 includes:
Consult before your session on location, clothing, props etc.
A fun 2 hour session with expertise of the photographer , up to 3 clothing changes, full editing and CD

What to look forward to? FUN!

Senior sessions as all JDP sessions are about capturing you . I'm just there to photograph , not put you in a box or category of what others do. It is relaxed, not hurried, focused on the client. I am very laid back and focused on getting great shots.

When to shoot?

The majority of my senior bookings are during the summer before senior year, as with the school senior sessions.
HOWEVER...as everyone in the south knows.
Summer = HOT AND HUMID
As sessions can be ANYtime. Don't feel as though spring is too early. It is a great time to shoot on location.

Whats coming up?

This is a great opportunity for deserving seniors to have a FREE session to advertise for JDP.
All info will come from the JDP fanpage so if you know of upcoming seniors or their parents , encourage them to LIKE the Jennifer Druelle Photographics fanpage so that no information is missed! Reps will be selected in March.

I'm looking so much to the coming months as I anticipate senior sessions to be bigger and better than before!

I photograph on location whether that be the clients home, school , or any beautiful location in the CSRA.
